Your Guide to Georgia’s Low THC Oil Card

What exactly is a Low THC Oil Registry Card?

In Georgia, this is the official term for a medical marijuana card. It proves you are registered with the state and allowed to legally buy and use low-THC cannabis oil for a health condition.

How is "low-THC oil" different from other cannabis?

Georgia’s law is very specific. Low-THC oil can have a maximum of 5% THC, which is the part of cannabis that can make you feel “high.” This focuses on the health benefits without strong psychoactive effects. Other products like cannabis flower or edibles are not yet legal here.

Am I able to get a card for anxiety?

While anxiety is a common reason people seek cannabis, Georgia has a specific list of approved conditions. Currently, anxiety is not on the list, but conditions like intractable pain and PTSD are. You can see the full list on our medical conditions page.

Can I complete the entire process from my home?

Yes, you can! We make it simple at Georgia MMJ Doctor. You can talk to one of our licensed doctors online through a secure video call, so you never have to leave your house.

What documents do I need to get started?

It’s pretty straightforward. You’ll need a valid Georgia ID to prove you live here and any medical records you have that show a diagnosis for a qualifying condition.

I don't have my medical records. What should I do?

No problem! During your online visit, you can simply fill out a form that allows us to request the necessary records on your behalf. We can help you with that step.

Is the online doctor visit private and secure?

Absolutely. Your privacy is our top priority. Our online platform is fully secure and follows all patient privacy laws, so your information is always kept safe.

What happens after the doctor approves me?

After your approval, the doctor submits your information to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Low THC Oil Registry. The state then processes it and will let you know when your card is ready.

How much does the Low THC Oil card cost?

There are two parts to the cost. First is the fee for your evaluation with our doctor. If you’re approved, the state then charges a small fee of $25 for the card itself, which is valid for two years.

How long does it take to get my card in the mail?

Once the doctor adds you to the state registry, it usually takes about 10-15 business days for the state to process everything and mail your card to your home.

Where can I legally buy low-THC oil?

Once you have your card, you can purchase your medicine from any of the state-licensed dispensaries that are now open in Georgia.

Can I use a medical card from another state in Georgia?

No, Georgia does not accept medical cannabis cards from other states. You must have a Georgia-issued Low THC Oil Registry Card to be protected under state law.

What if I am not approved for a card?

We offer a risk-free process. If our doctor determines that you don’t qualify for a Low THC Oil card, you will not be charged for the consultation.

What if I can't get to a dispensary myself?

Georgia’s program allows patients to designate a caregiver. This person can be a parent or legal guardian who can help you get your medicine after they register with the state.
